Åstveit or Aastvedt farm in Aasne, Hordaland
According to the entry in the Bygdebok for Alenfit, Nore Titland p 253 Our ancestor on the paternal line to farm at Aasvedt was Ola Monssen and he was a drummer in the military (tambur).
According to the entry for Åstveit in the Bygdebok for Aasane, Ola married the widow of Lars Hansen Aasvedt, Anne Saeterstol and thus aquired the farm Aasvedt (or Åstveit). They had 3 children. After her death he remarried had 6 more children. We are descended from his oldest son Mons, who inherited the farm. His youngest son was our ancestor Lars Monsen who went to sea and eventually settled in Kristiansand.

A translation of the farm book entry says "By a deed auction in 1745 , it is stated that Ole Monsen Åstveit had a crew of one old horse and 10 dairy cows."
These days it is settled with houses and is perhaps a suburb of Bergen.
