This document is from the research of Lee Munson in the 1960s and is also translated from the entries on pp 120-122 about Tveito in the farm book "Etne-soga" by Ståle Dyrvik, vol V "Folket. Grindheim sokn" with help from cousin Steinar Berg, the current owner of Tveito As usual the ancestors of Henry (Halvorsen) Lee are in bold. Many people are also linked to their entry at GENI

3. Åmund Bjørnsson b.1772 on Ve d.1842 on Tveito. Married in 1802 to Ragnilla Halldorsdotter b.1765 on Sande (3a) d.1806 on Tveito. She was the widow of Kristen Gudmundsson Tveito (previous operator). He remarried in 1807 to Anna Hansdotter b.1787 at Frette (28f), d.1854 at Tveito.
Åmund was of wealthy people from Sørstrando, and with marriage to the widow on Tveito gained both the status as a tenant farmer, some valuable assets and stepchildren. Ragnilla died in childbirth. The next marriage gave birth to many children, so it was populous at Tveito in the early 19th century.
Åmund himself had only daughters and it was the fourth one, Brita, who was appointed to take over the farm.
Åmund applied to the Bishop in Bergen (the church of Bergen owned in the old days a lot of farms and properties) to buy Tveito, and he got the so-called Royal Contract for 650 spd. in 1834. It was a reasonable price. The following year he passed the farm on to Brita and his son-in-law Erik. (To secure his new status as a retired farmer he now had to set the terms for his pension). The terms sounded of 18 våger (324 kg) oats,1 våg (18 kg) malt, 1 barrel (139 ltr) barley, 2 skjepper (40 ltr) of rye and fetus for 3 cows and 14 sheep. In addition there was a condition which included using the field Pig meadow and a piece of meadow which were cleared for boulders. The terms were great, but maybe still hard, when one thinks that Åmund and Anna had the responsibility for five children down to seven years of age.
In 1848, widow Anna had to get help from her guardian Tarald Frette, because the new users, Brita and Erik, were behind on a payment of 10 våger (180 kg) grains from the terms and for two years had refused to cultivate the Pig meadow.
from cousin Steinar in Norway:
'Tveito was the name that the locals used for the farm and the people living there. The use of Tvedten was a "much finer" rewriting of the name Tveito. One must remember between year approx 1350 and 1814 Norway was ruled under the king of Denmark. The officials like Priests and Tax collectors, Judges etc. was heavily influenced by Danish language, and Tveito was a bit "farmish" and did not sound very good in writing. So to make it a bit finer they wrote it Tvedten. I have seen in some old papers different ways of how the name Tvedten have been written like, Tuetten, Tuedten, Tveiten.
Cousin Annebeth added to that, " Same story I have heard, Steinar Berg. I think that the first "Tveito" to change his name to Tvedten was your grandfather Erik Eriksen Tvedten, when he left the farm to join the military. He later had a long civilian career in Stavanger."
